Skills and Techniques

Skills? Hmmmmm....I think my skill would be the ability to communicate with old things.I listen, and they sort of tell me where they want to go and with which other old thing or newer thing they'd like to be married to....and I officiate.

Get to Know

Sacred Cake vintage assemblage art and assemblage jewelry is created with those things that are once cherished and then lost through time, only to be rediscovered, re-purposed and cherished again. My jewelry is inspired by Art Nouveau, religious iconography, natural elements and antique and vintage heirlooms. Often times, my jewelry or artwork evokes a poem or a story that I share. Creating meaningful pieces with heirloom quality is what my work is all about. I often use antique rosaries and religious medallions, mid-century French rhinestones, lacy filigree, vintage glass beads and authentic Art Nouveau elements in my jewelry. Vintage oil cans, antique papers and photographs, old china, cheese graters and many varieties of vintage hardware often find their way into my functional art assemblages. My work has been featured several publications such as Taking Flight, an inspirational art book by my sister Kelly Rae Roberts, Studios Magazine, and Cloth Paper Scissors magazine. Look for my work in the summer and fall 2010 issues of Somerset Life, Artful Blogging, Jewelry Affaire and Belle Armoire Jewelry. My artwork and jewelry have been sold all over the world. If you would like to know a little more about me, you might like to visit my blog where I often post my poetry and stories, as well as free downloadable vintage and antique ephemera from my private collection for your use and enjoyment. Wholesale and Custom orders are always welcome, and as always, jewelry orders come boxed and thoughtfully wrapped with vintage papers and ribbon, at no extra charge. Blessings to You and Yours, Jennifer Valentine of Sacred Cake
