Skills and Techniques

I am highly skilled in off-loom beadweaving techniques of all types: peyote stitch, brick stitch, square stitch, herringbone (Ndebele) stitch, right angle weave, bead embroidery and various beaded ropes. I look to history for my inspiration and combine these very old beadweaving techniques with modern materials to create one-of-a-kind pieces of wearable beaded artwork.

Get to Know

I am a (mostly) self-taught glass, beadwork and jewelry artist. Jewelry making was an interest all through high school, but I mostly experimented with different materials and techniques - everything from polymer clay to paper. Finally, while finishing my undergraduate degree in environmental science, I discovered off-loom bead weaving and was hooked immediately! From there, it became clear that I would not last long in my chosen profession, as I was spending my time in meetings doodling new beadwork designs, and once I was home, all I did was eat, sleep and talk beads!

After my son was born in 2008, instead of going back to my old job, we decided that I would stay home and raise my son and focus on creating my one-of-a-kind jewelry.
In June of 2009, I became the Guide to Beadwork, and I now get to share my knowledge and love of beads, beadwork and beading techniques with interested readers all over the world!
