Get to Know

I have always love sewing and needle work. I crocheted a dog pillow for my mother when I was nine years old. That was the beginning of original work. Prior to that I loved getting kits to complete from weaving pot holders on a small metal square loom (they are plastic now) to beading kits, paint by number and car kits.

My first big sewing project was a jumper and I have just recently come across that pattern in my size so am going to give it a go. I was totally green back then, didn't clip seams or trim them so the area where I buttoned the straps, which came to points was very bulky. I got it done, however, and wore it proudly. Now I can do it right

Over the years there isn't much I haven't tried, some mediums more successfully than others. My college background is Art, however I never graduated. Art School would have been better for me as I am a hands on learner.

I always say I have to live to be 400 to try everything I want to try and pursue to excellence. I have no training in pattern making but love patterns and love making them, changing them and making them fit perfectly.

Between us, my husband and I have 7 daughters, several of whom are handy and creative like me. We retired to Texas. I have lived in North Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota and Illinois where I was born. We are really enjoying the mild winters and even the very hot summers are okay. We also love not having a state income tax!
