Quick Blurb

We are a husband and wife duo, sharing a love of photography. We are on location and natural light photographers.

Skills and Techniques

We currently use Canon DSLR cameras for our art photography. You may see us with an iPhone, Kodak, Fuji, or Nikon shooting our everyday \"life\" shots. We shoot in camera raw and develop our shots with CS4 and Lightroom 2.

Get to Know

Let me tell you a story about a man named Jed a... Oh sorry wrong story. How about,"Here's the story about a man named Brady"? Still the wrong one uh? This is supposed to be about us not a TV show. So here it goes......

Melissa is a full time educator working with elementary children. She also is a part time IT consultant with the school district. When not working or taking photos she enjoys many varied activities. You might find her curled up with her computer playing a silly game or glued to the TV watching a Nascar event. She also enjoys crafting. Her favorites are crocheting, knitting, and sewing. She is the social media and just plain social butterfly of the group.

Paul is a HVAC/R tech. When he isn't working or taking photos he likes to enjoy the outdoors. He enjoys taking the motorcycle out for a ride on a nice day. Hunting and fishing are favorite past times when the time allows.

So you see this business is really glue to help hold the marriage together. With such varied hobbies we needed something we could do together. While our venture into the public spot light goes hand and hand with the opening of our Artfire store photography is nothing new to either one of us.

We both had enjoyed photography prior to getting married and had both longed for a camera that could do more than what we had. After running the gauntlet of point and shoot cameras Paul was the first to make the leap from point and shoot to DSLR. Melissa followed a few months later and both have been shooting since then. While we display our art photos here for purchase we do a lot of other photography. We take pictures at most of the school events for no other reason than to give them back to the school for their use. We also do some portrait photography.

While Paul has never been called a snob or snobbish the same can't be said for Melissa. ;) Her high quality taste though means no print ships that doesn't look it's best. All prints are printed locally at a lab that has been developing and printing photographs for 85 years. They are the best of the best and we that's what we want for our customers.

Why not just use a discount store or someone online you ask. There are several reasons. Discount stores do not offer the quality or the consistency that a dedicated lab can offer. Online printers are cheaper than our lab that's for sure, but there is no personal service and no guarantees. We want to know when we pick-up the print it is going to be perfect. We'd have to waste a lot of time and money to find a lab that we could trust the way we can trust our local one. Plus we are helping the local economy and supporting a locally owned and operated store. Personal service and quality matters to us and we hope that it matters to you also.
