Handcrafted Artisan Enamelled Copper Pendant on Brown Leather Necklace
Handcrafted copper enameled disc on brown leather necklace.
We start with a hand cut copper disk, which provides a base for applying opaque or transparent enamel powder. Next we heat the powder to a glossy shine; the powder becomes glass and the colors glow.
Hours of labor and time are involved in making jewelry by a metal-smith using forging and coloring techniques. Each piece of my handmade jewelry is unique. If you are looking for something distinctive please consider the various artisan's who hand forge their jewelry. For yourself or that special person chose a handmade piece of jewelry that no one else will be wearing. Handmade forged jewelry is rarely perfect but it provides character and distinctiveness that mass manufactured items do not have. If you want 'perfect' then please go with the mass manufactured items. Each artisan piece of jewelry is not 'perfect' but truly unique and eminently wearable.
Most of my pictures are magnified so any greatly to show detail and will also show minor imperfections which are not visible on the piece at normal size.
There are many health benefits to copper. A double-blind study in Australia concluded that copper bracelets reduced pain and inflammation as well as other benefits. It was recently discovered that copper kills the MRSA virus and many hospitals are replacing hand rails, etc. with copper or copper alloy.
Enameling is an old and widely adopted technology, for most of its history mainly used in jewelry and decorative arts. Enameling is colored glass which can be opaque, transparent, or opalescent when applied to various metals or porcelains. This material is what provides the main appeal of enameled objects: their brilliant jewel-like colors.
The enamel is applied on metal, usually copper, gold, silver, or pre-coated iron or steel, and then fired in a kiln, furnace or by a torch at temperatures ranging from 1200 to 1700 degrees. In working with the enamels various techniques can be used. Enamels may be sifted, painted, stencilled, sponged, dropped, or inlaid wet or dry on the metal. More effects can be done by use of sgraffito, etching the metal and by inlaying metal wire.

The shampoo bar looks great, and I really appreciate the additional information & goodies for other herbal haircare techniques!
Thanks so much, Barbara! Will be back again!
I've done a whole lot of research on skin care & products, from a more science based, skeptical point of view and I want to just say that this seller makes the soaps & products I would make - I mean exactly what I would choose to make - down to each oil and ingredient she chooses. This is the find of a lifetime. I gifted my family & loved ones each with a half bar of shampoo (I ordered the herbs and made the vinegar infusion myself), and one salt based soap and one mud based soap suited to their unique skin types. And just as expected, raves all around. Absolutely thumbs up from 6 very picky people with a diverse array of needs of their skin and hair that nothing before seemed to suit as perfectly as their gifts from Pigeon Creek. I can only hope you continue this business (and allow us to buy from you) for a very long time. Just an aside, everyone adores the smell of your unscented bars containing kelp - we love the sea and it's only present for the time your washing yourself, afterwards you smell nothing but clean. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
OMG! This is such fantastic handmade soap! Really well made, beautiful scents and colors. Super fast shipping, great packaging and great communication - Top Notch! I am THRILLED! Highly recommended seller :)
