I am glad to offer these cuffs in my Etsy shop for those who can't knit or are not able to make one. But I also know that such a gift is even more meaningful when made with the giver's own hands! It is for that reason I am offering this simple, basic pattern.

The original idea was to be a gift for cancer patients, but the concept could be adapted for people in many different kinds of difficult situations. Each material used has a special signifigance, and comes with a card explaining each one.

Materials you will need: cotton yarn; size 6 double pointed knitting needles; small amounts of ribbon, lace, fuzzy yarn, and rickrack; a heart of some sort, whether a charm, bead or applique; sewing thread and needle.

Skills needed: knitting and purling on double pointed needles; basic sewing and crafting skills for attaching embellishments

Inspiration/Story Behind This Product

18 years ago, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. Her struggle with this illness, and eventual triumph over it, put cancer patients near and dear to my heart. I've seen how simple things take on new meaning for one fighting to hang on to life, and how a small, thoughtful gift can bring them hope and give them something to hang on to in the worst circumstances.

I hope that this pattern will be used to bless and encourage people, not only cancer patients but people in other difficult situations as well.
