Coursing greyhound and rabbit button pendant, in Sterling Silver or Br
This is a reproduction of an antique livery button that was originally made in England. Livery
buttons usually had all or part of the coat of arms of the family for whom the servants worked.
The scene depicts a running greyhound chasing a running rabbit. In heraldic terms, this is a
“greyhound courant chasing a coney courant” (coney was the heraldic term for the rabbit).
The pendant is 1” or 25mm in diameter. The bronze pendants have a top loop for a bail.
The silver ones have a hidden hanging loop on the backs. The back still bears the maker's
mark of the original button maker.
