Flower pendant bead necklace in pastel orange, gold, and dark green:
This necklace makes a wonderful spring and summertime accessory, with colors that are simultaneously rich and soft. It is also a unique piece of wearable art with quite a story to how it was made.
I cut a magazine page and laid it face down on a square of polymer clay that was coated with liquid polymer clay. Once cured, the pendant had to be soaked in water for several hours so that I could gently rub away the paper fibers-leaving the floral design embedded on the clay.
I painted over the design with acrylic paints and Ranger ink to touch up and fill in parts of the image that were off. Basically, everything but the petals were painted. I then sealed it in with two coats of polyurethane to shine and protect.
This lovely pendant is strung up on nylon coated jewelry wire with gold colored acrylic rounds (the large ones) and glass beads in creamy pale orange and dark green.
The necklace closes with a plated base metal lobster claw clasp and measures 17 and up to 21 inches. The square measures about 1.5 by 1.5 inches.
