intage German Light BLUE DIAMOND Etched Glass Beads 11mm pkg 2 GL779
Vintage West German light powder blue pressed glass oval beads from the 1950's. They are a soft feminine shade of blue.
These beads each measure approximately 11mmm x9mm x 6mm and are in a somewhat 'flattened' oval shape.
They're in excellent condition and well over 50 years old.
It's quite hard for me to part with these beads like so many that I purchased many years ago, as they are so extraordinary with their high relief texture diamond texture and beautiful sheen!
Parts of the surface of the bead are shiny and part are more of a satin finish.
**If you love this bead, please check out my item GL-474 which is the same bead but in a jet black color!***
The pattern that has been pressed into these gorgeous oval shaped flat beads are a diamond pattern which hopefully you can see in the photographs!
Price is for 2 of these beads which we 100% guarantee to be West German pressed glass from the 1950's.
The way that this type of bead was made ( pressed glass ) is fascinating! The glass that was going to be used was first heated on a mandrel (rod) in much the same way that lamp work beads are made today.
A 'press' which almost resembled tongs used to cook with, was then wrapped around the molten glass to form the desired shape. Many times, VERY detailed impressions were on the ends of these tongs that were used in these vintage West German ' pressed' glass beads so that the final bead looked almost as if it were 'etched' or 'carved'.
You certainly will never find beads like this at your local bead shop!
I sold many such unique and one of a kind glass beads through the Smithsonian Institution's museum shop and mail order catalog during the 1980's and they were also featured in trunk shows at Bloomingdales and Saks Fifth Avenue during this same time period.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: POSTAGE RATES HAVE RISEN DRAMATICALLY IN 2020
ORDERS INSIDE USA: A charge of $4.00 covers any first class shipment up to 15 ounces. Our beads vary so much in weight that it is impossible for us to apply a single add-on charge for multiple product orders. We will continue to refund to customers any amount that greatly exceeds our actual cost of shipping and handling.
ORDERS OUTSIDE USA: International First Class rates are now crazy: $16.50 for any package weighing from 1-5 ounces. Even an order for 2-3 small bead items may cost $16.50 or more, depending on the type of material (stone versus resin, for example). We apologize in advance if we have to adjust the postage cost of an order that has been placed. We will understand if an order is rescinded when the postage cost is too high relative to the product value.
All international orders have contents described as "loose beads" and are flagged as "commercial samples" or " gift" if you prefer to make your life easier when receiving your beads. If you'd like us to mark your order as " gift" instead please let us know!
All our beads are inspected one by one before being shipped. They are individually wrapped to protect them and then put in little plastic ziploc bags.
All vintage beaded jewelry is either shipped in a little gift box tied with a ribbon or in a vintage Chinese embroidered silk purse.

You must notify us as soon as you receive your order if there is a problem.

Thank you - Debby and Joel Arem
Love my beads! The coloring in the epidote was not as intense as illustrated, but it is certainly a good example of the mineral. The colors in the unakite beads are wonderful. The quality of the carving I would rate as good to excellent.
Nice beads!! Super fast thanks a lot!!!
I have dreamed of having a necklace such as the jade one. But the red one. That was a surprise. Both are beautiful. Thank you! Best, Jane
Lovely color;!interesting stones.
When I thought that I had ordered two of these and then checked out I had to order another set. The seller was very kind and combined my two orders and refunded my shipping.
