I love sunflowers! The circumference of this hat is approximate 20 inches un-stretched and will stretch comfortably to about 23 ½ inches. It measures 8½ inches from the cast on edge to top edge.

I used several different types and textures of yarn, all earth friendly and/or recycled. The entire hat is soft and NOT scratchy or itchy. Each sunflower is made separately and whip-stitched to the hat.

I make my hats with a "rolled" bottom edge so that they can be adjustable. If it is a really super cold day, maybe you want to roll the edge down. Also, if the hat is too deep for your head, it can be rolled up. If it is not deep enough for your head, roll it down.

Inspiration/Story Behind This Product

Have you ever driven by a field of sunflowers? Its one of the most stunning vistas I know, and I tried to recreate it from bottom to top. Layers of different colored soil, then grass, then sunflowers against a blue sky.

This pattern actually won an award at the Pink Palace Crafts Fair in Memphis, Tennessee.

I work in the round using double-point needles so that there is no lumpy seam. My stitch work is very consistent, which makes for a very dense and warm hat.

This is a very durable hat and the more it is worn, the softer it becomes and it needs minimal care and cleaning. To clean, gently hand-wash it in cold water, gently wring it to remove excess water, and lay it out to dry. But to keep the shape of the hat and speed the air-drying process, you can scrunch up a small hand towel and put it inside the hat until the hat dries.

Welcome to In The Eye Designs! We can duplicate some patterns and designs depending on the availability of materials, so please feel free to contact us with any custom orders and/or requests. However, each item is hand-made, so there will be slight variations.

All wire-wraps & findings are sterling silver or copper.

If you place a custom order for knitwear, please be specific about your fiber and color preferences, or allergies (for example, some people can't tolerate wool or wool blends).

Most mass-produced double point knitting needles come in only sets of 5 needles. Our doublepoints come in sets of 6. Many knitters who work with doublepoints probably have a story about losing a needle and know the difficulty of finding a replacement. With 6 doublepoints, you also have the opportunity to work on larger projects. Due to the time consuming effort to handmake knitting needles, we are not taking any custom orders and what we have listed is all that we currently have in stock.

We try to find new t-shirts at discount prices, which means t-shirt styles are limited. What you see is what we have in stock.

We accept payment via Paypal and Amazon Payments. We do NOT accept checks or eChecks of any sort. Your Paypal or Amazon Payments shipping address must match your Artfire shipping address. We do not accept any other payment methods on Artfire at this time.

We use USPS Priority Mail with Signature Confirmation. Purchases will be shipped within 3-5 days of confirmation of payment. We will notify you if there will be any delay based on payment confirmation.

You will be sent a tracking number. If multiple items are purchased, we will bundle items and shipping cost will vary. If you would like an item to be sent via a different carrier or wish to insure your shipment, please send an email to discuss and make arrangements.
