ALLEGANY, N.Y. (AP) - A 28-year-old Allegany man was one of seven U.S. soldiers killed in an explosion at a weapons cache in Afghanistan on Thursday, his family said. Army Staff Sgt. Shawn M. Clemens, 28, had been in the military for eight years. The father of a 3-year-old boy, he arrived in Afghanistan in August and was squad leader of a sniper unit, his mother, Candace Clemens, told The Buffalo News Friday. Clemens was a strong family man and an avid outdoorsman who "loved his country and was proud to serve," his mother said. The fallen soldier had previously been deployed in Kosovo and told family members he would probably be safer in Afghanistan.

The family received a visit from an Army captain informing them of Clemens' death shortly after 11 p.m. Thursday. Clemens was born in Corning. The family moved to Olean when he was 4 and later settled in Allegany. A 1993 graduate of Allegany Central School, Clemens attended Alfred University before joining the military. A hunter and fisherman, he was a catcher for Allegany Central School's baseball team. Clemens also played football and wrestled in high school and in college. Besides his son, Gavin, Clemens also is survived by his wife, April; a stepdaughter, Alexis; his father, William; and two younger sisters, Michelle Clemens and Kristen Keenan. Plans for funeral services were incomplete Friday. The blast occurred Thursday as the troops worked around a cache of rifle ammunition and mortar rounds in a village about 90 miles southwest of Kabul, the U.S. military said.
The Department of Defense announced on January 31, 2004 the deaths of seven Soldiers supporting Operation Enduring Freedom west of Ghazni, Afghanistan. The seven Soldiers and an additional Soldier whose Duty Status Whereabouts Unknown, were working around a weapons cache when there was an explosion. Three other Soldiers and an interpreter were injured and transported to 452nd Combat Support Hospital at Bagram Air Base.

Seller never sent product and used very, very poor business practices when approached, Used vulgar comments and obsenities. Seller has been reported online as being dishonest and not trustworthy. Beware and don't trust this seller. I did recieve one item directly from the sellers website after they were confronted. Still waiting on the bracelet. I am sure I will be wainting a long time.
