I use top quality leather (i.e. Wickett and Craig, tanned in Curwensville, PA and others as well). I often use dyes and acrylic paints on my leather art work and occasionally add crystals or conchos as appropriate. Most items are sealed with one of various compounds, at least twice, for long life. Many of my items are reinforced with steel and/or wood.
If you have special needs, please email me. If I cannot work you into my busy schedule, I will put you in contact with another PSLAC-EAST member who will be able to assist you. Combined, we can make most anything from leather.
Patch and I are open to suggestions for new products.
Liability Notice: To be responsible regarding my health and yours, I use good leather, commonly used dyes, sealers, acrylic paints, etc. I make each item as safe as possible; however leather is made from the hides of animals and each piece is unique. Leather will usually darken with age and exposure to sunlight. As leather ages it will dry and lose flexibility. This can be lessened by keeping leather away from heat and light,as much as possible, as well as applying any number of leather dressings available. While these cautions may not always apply to an art piece, they apply to horse and dog tack and other wearables. I cannot be responsible for carelessness in either use or care. If there is a problem, please let me know and I will work with you as much as I deem possible. I will accept no liability beyond the initial cost of the item. additional charge.
NOTE: The estimated shipping and handling costs are for the lower 48 only. Other parts of the USA may require an additional charge. I'l need an address and time to contact the USPS.
A note about quality: Before any item leaves the studio, my red heeler Patch performs a final inspection and then gives his approval. So, if there are any questions about your purchase, address them to Patch. He is available @ Awl.Leather@Gmail.com.
Patch and I want to thank you for your visit to our studio.
Thanks so much for the wonderful leash! The hand loop fits perfectly and feels very smooth and secure. I donated the nylon leash we bought from the store to a pet rescue after using yours. Definitely worth the price and wait! I'll be back if we are looking for more leatherwork items. And thank you for the gift as well (:
