Sterling Silver Ichthus Pendant
In ancient Greco-Roman times, ICHTHUS was the Greek word for "fish." In the early church sometime near the end of the first century, the word was made into an acronym or a word formed from the first letter of several words. As such, ichthus compiles to "Jesus Christ, God's son, Savior," based on this configuration:
?Iota (i) is the first letter of Iesous (Greek for Jesus)
?Chi (kh) is the first letter of Khristos (Greek for Christ)
?Theta (th) is the first letter of Theou (Greek for God, or "God's)
?Upsilon (u) is the first letter of Huios (Greek for Son)
?Sigma (s) is the first letter of Soter (Greek for Savior)
Size inches: 1.5" L, .5" W - Includes 5mm soldered ring at top.

Silver Plated Bronze & Gold Filled Bronze FAQS:
Silver Plated Bronze
Silver Plated Bronze offers an affordable way to purchase our best-selling charms and pendants. The silver plate is 40 micro-inches thick, with a thin layer of nickel in between the bronze and silver plate. The nickel layer increases the longevity and durability of the silver plate by preventing the bronze from migrating up through the silver to the surface.
Our silver plate is the same thickness (40 micro-inches or 1 micron) that we've successfully used for years on our gold plated silver. It is durable and reliable. However, as with any plated item, please keep in mind that bending it may cause the silver plate layer to crack.
Silver plated bronze has an additional Anti Tarnish Finish added to the surface to keep the silver from tarnishing. Most of our silver plated bronze is not oxidized, so it has a bright shiny look. This is most obvious on styles that have recessed areas. You will notice the silver plated bronze styles are bright silver in the recessed areas, unlike the sterling silver versions that are oxidized and then polished, which makes the recessed areas darker than the raised surface areas.
Exceptions are the silver plated bronze letter charms, word tags, and some etched styles. These styles are oxidized before the Anti Tarnish Finish is added to make the motif dark against the shiny silver.
Gold Plated Bronze
Gold Plated Bronze has the same gold plate as we use on our Gold Plated Sterling Silver. It is a satin finish with a 24 karat gold color. The plating process uses 98.5% pure gold. It is a gem quality plating that is 40 micro inches thick over bronze with a fine layer of nickel in between. The nickel layer increases the longevity and durability of the silver plate by preventing the bronze from migrating up through the gold to the surface. The plate is very reliable and popular with our customers. However, as with any plated item, please keep in mind that bending it may cause the gold plate layer to crack.
What is a shell pearl?
The shell pearl is laboratory made from the shell of an oyster. The process of making a shell pearl involves several different stages. The raw material for the base of the pearl is the sea shell, which is coated and polished to the final shape of the pearl. In order to produce a good quality pearl, a key ingredient is what we call a 'mother of pearl bead'. This element adds weight, value and durability to the pearl.
In fact, the materials used in order to make shell pearls are the same materials from which cultured pearls are made.
Why shell pearls are a better choice ?
There are a lot of reasons why many pearls lovers all over the world prefer buying shell pearls. The first one is their price. Wearing pearls is no longer the privilege of those of means, the shell pearl is an affordable product for every pocket. The range of prices varies of course, and some shell pearls are expensive as a result of their excellent quality, but comparatively speaking shell pearls are still much easier and cheaper to buy.
The second reason is the quality of the shell pearl. The rarity of the cultural pearl not only makes it expensive, but also makes it hard to find in perfect shape and size. The manual production of the shell pearl enables the manufacturer to determine the shape, size, and color of the pearl, thus making the final result seem perfect.
The modern technology of pearl production can also assure its durability. The shell pearl will always keep its shine and color, and will not be affected by sweat, perfume or detergents. The pearl in its marketing form is a result of a long process of shaping and coating, and intensive quality control inspection.
Another reason for purchasing this product is the possibility of controlling it's shape and color. This means the client is able to choose between different colors and shapes, and buy the one which suits his/her taste the best. This also means the manufacturer is able to offer a whole new world of colors and shapes, which are not to be found in cultured pearls.
What does Treatment mean?
Silver beads and findings that are treated have been given some form of temporary anti-tarnish treatment. Efficacy varies from a couple of weeks to months so ultimately these items will still tarnish. All sterling silver jewelry supplies will eventually tarnish and require cleaning. Due to transit times and shelf life, treatment efficacy may be diminished before items ship to customers.
**Treated items will resist liver of sulphur or other effects. Oxidation attempts may yield splotchy, uneven results.
