Genuine handmade glass beads from Java, Indonesia were used to create this BOHO five wrap memory wire bracelet. These handmade glass beads from Java have a true rustic beauty. Due to the fact that they are completely handmade you will not find any two the same shape, size and color. Many of the glass beads have a matte coloring which I am particularly fond of. This variation in size and colors really drew me to the unique handmade structure of these beads. I selected two sizes to add even more texture to the bracelet and mixed in antique brass corrugated metal beads. Each end of the bracelet is finished off with a caramel mother of pearl and two hand-wrapped charms using the handmade Java glass beads. I chose Soft Flex gold memory wire as it is a little more flexible than regular stainless steel wire. This memory wire works much better with some of the more delicate Java glass beads.
The art of producing glass beads in Java is an ancient art. Java glass beads have been dated back as far as 500 A.D.. The unfortunate part is that this wonderful glass making art is fading away due to commercialism of mass produced glass beads. There are still many poor villages who still produce glass beads using old recycled glass.
Because of the memory wire, this bracelet will fit all sizes and will wrap at least 5 times around the wrist. Memory wire is really great as it never breaks or loses it's shape.
