Vintage Skeleton Key Sterling Necklace Set Czech Glass Handmade OOAK
The keeper of secrets walks through the dimmed halls, oil lamps lighting her way, approaching the hidden room where the timeless books are stored. She makes sure she is not being followed before pulling the key from under the folds of her woolen cloak. She breathes quietly as she caresses its worn edges, knowing that mysteries await.

One-of-a-Kind Antique Key Rich Red Beauty: The heart of this set is a vintage key, a bit time-worn but rich with character. I cleaned the key using steel wool and a brass brush but purposely did not strip away its authenticity. For keys, my philosophy is to build the necklace around the feeling the key evokes. For this key, I got a medieval feel and chose to use all sterling silver in the design.
To secure the key, I made infinity symbols in sterling silver and used a wonderful textured oval sterling chain in segments to connect with my handmade links. Small accents of faceted glass dot the chains above the key. I used two sizes of smooth druk beads (Czech glass) in a deep red to make sterling single-bead links and longer bar links with medium-sized beads and sterling spacers. The beaded links are connected by handmade sterling bar links which I hammered for texture using my favorite cobbler's hammer. More of the textured chain completes the back of the necklace, and I used liver of sulfur to get an antiqued uniform finish on the entire piece. There is no clasp to come apart on this necklace, as it's 30" in length and will easily fit over the head. The key adds a 2-1/2" drop.
To match the necklace, I made earrings using lengths of textured chain and wire-wrapped small red faceted glass along the side and a single smooth bead at the bottom. The dangles are completed on hypo-allergenic niobium earwires in a natural steel gray color, and hang 2" from the top of the earwire.
The key, beads, links, and chain in this necklace are all hearty and give a substantial feel. As hard as I try not to pick favorites, this necklace set speaks to me and you will get a bit of my imagination if you adopt this set for yourself.
