Dark Walnut Executive Desk
This desk is one of the rarest and most beautiful pieces of wood I have ever worked with. The feathering, texture, and grain all combine in a way that makes this piece shine and stand out. The wood comes from an estimated 178 year old walnut tree that was knocked over by an Oklahoma tornado. The natural split provided a very artistic and functional desk shape that allows an individual to add monitors and computer towers to the desk without compromising the aesthetics. The desk top is paired with a base that came from the same fallen tree, secured with custom hinges at the joints. The desk top secures to the base via three notches that recess the base to prevent any visible hardware. To preserve the natural curves and live edge, the top was kept at a thickness of about three inches, with the base being about the same. The desk measures 8' long by 5,2" wide and 30" tall. The estimated weight for this desk is around 400 pounds. The top does separate to make transport much easier. I assure you the pictures cannot do this table justice. Please feel free to reach out with any questions about this project.
