These pretty dangle earrings unite copper spiral hand charms with large beads of leopardskin jasper and light-catching crystals. There are small copper bicone beads above the main beads, which are a fantastic, almost painterly mix of black and greys with warm tones such as burnt orange and paler shades that can look peachy or rosy depending on the light.
The hand charms were made in the USA by TierraCast, and have a wonderful simplicity to them. The spirals are nicely pronounced, with good visibility.
Rose crystal rounds were added above the jasper beads, and attract light to the dangles. They're topped with small copper bicones. The ear hooks are copper and come with clear earnuts (also known as stoppers).
Length: around 2 inches including ear wires.
About the Spiral Hand:
A hand with a spiral in its palm is a symbol often found in the pictographs of ancient cultures in the Southwest United States. Some interpret the symbol as a shaman's handprint, and it is thought to represent power and protection. In dream therapy, the open hand is a fear-dispelling symbol; also a boon bestowing one. It has become an active symbol in Reiki healing.
Since ancient times, jasper has been used for jewelry and various ornamentation. It is a courage stone and thought to be beneficial in pain management. Reputedly an aid to healing and toxin-elimination, it's also associated with travel and journeys, especially in a spiritual sense, protecting travelers and sojourners on spiritual pathways. It is a type of chalcedony and member of the quartz family.
Leopardskin jasper is though to be especially helpful in times of stress, giving its wearers strength to acknowledge and deal with inner turmoil and the source of that turmoil. A common epithet for this stone is "patron of healers and counselors." A wonderful power stone, indeed!
Jasper can be used as the January birthstone, is linked to the astrological signs of Aquarius and Leo. It is believed to balance the chakras. Leopard skin jasper is supposedly a good stone for Capricorns.
