Vintage Schreiner New York Mile High Rhinestone Brooch Earrings Demi
Vintage Schreiner New York Mile High Rhinestone Brooch Earrings Demi is a unique and stunning design in an array of cranberry, pink, and amethyst colors! This style appears quite similar to the "mile high" designs featured in the book "Schreiner: Masters of Twentieth-Century Costume Jewelry" by Carole Tanenbaum and Eve Townsend. The stone combinations include a stippled glass cabochon at its very center surrounded by a pink and amethyst oval and chaton rhinestones with alternating large oval translucent glass gripoix cabochons. The coloring reminds me of a light cranberry. This design incorporates the hook and eye construction and dog tooth prongs so often used by Schreiner. This a unique design and has a wonderful color combination. All stones are prong set. To inspect photos, simply click on the binocular icon on the top right corner of any photo.
Henry Schreiner founded the company in 1939 and designed and made costume jewelry for famous fashion houses, includinn Dior. In the early 50's, he went out on his own. All jewelry was made in New York. It was never mass produced and was always hand finished. Henry Schreiner died in 1954, and the company was lead by his daughter until 1977.
Excellent condition, the brooch pin measures 2" x 2" and is a bit over 1" high and weighs 41 grams. The earrings measure 1 1/2" x 1" and weigh 19 grams. The brooch is signed Schreiner New York. This is a wonderful piece perfect for the vintage jewelry or Schreiner collector. (N-120418-#1)

This jewelry comes from a dear friend and a truly exceptional lady. While having an antique shop, she has collected these fine designer pieces for the last 40 years and has an incredibly discerning eye for quality as well as unique and special pieces. The extensive nature of her collection has meant that she has not worn most pieces more than once.
It is my distinct pleasure that she has chosen to pass her extensive collection on to me. I know that I will be keeping some special pieces for myself and will also be offering many pieces in store as well. Please know that with each piece comes a wonderful legacy of a very special lady that makes this jewelry all the more special.
