Vintage Lisner Thermoset Oak Leaf Necklace Earring Demi Set Book Piece
Vintage Lisner Demi Parure has extremely detailed amber colored oak leaves with each leave accented by a crystal cabochon. Adding depth and a luxurious touch, a single silver colored vein runs through each leave while also connecting each panel. Whenever Lisner is discussed, the famous "Oak Leaves" sets from the 1950s- 1960s inevitably come up and they are featured book pieces in several vintage jewelry books. This set is lovely in an array of amber colors with that mesmerizing quality of fine art.
The owner of this company, (also the US distributor for Schiaparelli pieces), loved Picasso and was said to have a fine collection of Pablo's work. It is also said that the company's overall design outlook came from the owner's love of art. The oak leaf pieces certainly show artistic flair and they have become highly collectible and harder to find! This two piece set consists of a necklace and earrings, all in high quality gold- plated metal. The leaves are in two shades of amber, accented with rich, deep amber rhinestones. The necklace closes with a a J hook and it is adjustable. The matching climber earrings are signed. All pieces are signed. You can see similar pieces in several books including Mid- century Plastic Jewelry, by Susan Klein on pages 41-43. (ca.1960s). This is a classic design and the perfect accessory for a fall wardrobe.
LISNER Founder (s): D. Lisner Company New York City ~ Early 1900s - Mid 1980s- This company produced a wide variety of costume jewelry during their over 55 years. The jewelry varied in use of materials, styles as well as quality. Taking a page out of the Coro business model, this company made jewelry for all price points. In fact, some of Lisner's jewelry looks a lot like mid- range Coro costume jewelry. Lisner also produced some very nice above average costume jewelry using high quality rhinestones stones and techniques. Their colorful sets with sculptured plastic stones, usually shaped like leaves, are very popular. Jewelry made with the oak shaped leaf is most sought after. Although some of the plastic sets were considered low end and still are, they do not lack quality! The company used several trademarks. A few included: Crystalia and Junior Prom. The first mark was "Lisner" in block letters first used in 1938. name "Lisner" [Long "L" and small "isner"] was first used in 1959. The Lisner name was no longer used on jewelry beginning in the late 1970s. Lisner purchased Richelieu [the pearl company] in the mid 1970s. The name was changed to Lisner- Richelieu and then sold in 1979. Signature Designs/Techniques: Brightly colored plastic jewelry sets, AB rhinestone sets, molded glass, multi colored rhinestones.

This comes from an estate where the owner was liquidating a jewelry and doll collection spanning 80 years. She had several designer names such as Weiss, Trifari, Napier, Matisse, Eisenberg, Sarah Coventry, B David, and Coro as well as pieces from West Germany, Japan, Hong Kong and older celluloid jewelry. Numerous items had matching pieces so many demi-parures are available. I acquired so much of this jewelry that I will be working on offering it in the store for years to come.
There are additional antique and vintage necklaces, brooches, and earrings in the Designer, Necklaces, Pendant, Earrings, as well as the Bakelite, Lucite, and Other Plastics Studio Categories.
