Glass orb pendant green swirls, shipping costs one penny
How it was made:
The pendant is made out of 12 gauge sterling silver wire that is formed and soldered together. A jump ring is made out of 14 gauge silver wire and soldered on to the top of the pendant. The bail is 14 gauge silver wire. The sides are forged (hammered) flat and then drilled so a piece of tubing will just slide through.
The pendant and piece of sterling silver tube are tumbled to 'work harden' and give them a final finish.
The tube is slid through one hole, the pendant attached and it is pushed through the other hole. The ends of the tubes are hammered VERY carefully to flare the ends so it will not come off.
The bail opening for a chain is approximately ¼ inch by 5/16 inches high. This pendant is designed for a heavier chain.
From the top of the pendant to the bottom is approximately 2 ½ inches. From the top of the bail to the bottom of the pendant is approximately 2 ¾ inches.
I have always liked items fabricated out of glass. The colors and patterns are endless. When I saw these at a gem show. I purchased them not knowing what I would ultimately do with them.
This design allowed me to mix the glass with metalsmithing and the movement of the glass piece while being worn enhances the flowing colors of the glass.
