There is something about Aqua Terra Jasper (also known as sea sediment jasper) that caused me to not want to put down that strand of beads after I picked it up at the last gem show. And there is something about the lively combination between copper and blue that always lights my eyes. So this is how I came up with this unique pair of earrings.
Vibrant jasper teardrops (10x16mm) with sedimentary inclusions that only make the stone more interesting are hanging from hand-hammered raw copper bars (5x20mm) that are slighly curved for added dimension.
Copper french hook style ear wires.
Overall length of the earring is 57mm (approx. 2 1/4).
Handcrafted - One of a kind.
Sea Sediment Jasper is only one of the names for this absolutely gorgeous stone that is also referred to as: Aqua Terra Jasper (the blue and green colors), Impression Jasper (for it does make quite the impression), Snakeskin Jasper, as well as Variscite and Regalite.
Jasper was a favorite gem in ancient times and is referenced in Hebrew, Assyrian and Latin literature. It is a fine-grained chalcedony and comes in all colors. The name jasper comes from the Greek and means spotted stone.
Aqua Terra (translated as Water and Earth) - the blue and green varieties of Sea Sediment Jasper is a wonderful stone for helping one find inner peace, clarity, love and compassion, helps with the alignment of the physical and light bodies and is an excellent stone for emotional healing.
