Vintage Japanese Haori - Jacket - Purple Meisen - Medallion - Antique
This is a listing for a Japanese Haori, or jacket, perfect for all seasons!
I am listing number of Haori and Michiyuki, which I feel are too nice to take apart. This is one of them. Many items are good for taking apart because the fabric is really better used for something else, as it is really not a wonderful garment.
Typically worn over a kimono, Haori are loosely fitted, with ties in the front, and are worn open except for the tie. Their sleeves mimic the kimono worn under them.
This is a Haori from the late Taisho period (1912-1926). This is longer than the normal Haori and the sodatake (sleeve length) is quite elegant, more like the sleeves on garments made for use with a furisode.
This Haori is a tightly woven silk with an almost irridescent look. Silver floral balls are woven all over. A gorgeous purple blue textured weave, which almost looks like a tiny houndstooth check. The color is deeper than shown. Perhaps this is the true royal blue!
The lining is a gold synthetic, perhaps cotton and synthetic. It appears to have been replaced, as it is in excellent condition. There are a couple of small stains.
Lovely daintily braided silk ties are included with this. They appear quite new as well.
This is a light weight crisp silk.
Falls 41 1/2" from the shoulder.
Sodetake (sleeve length) is 27"
Across the back, from sleeve to sleeve (total width) is 51".
Across the bust (your largest measurement should be 1" smaller) 40".
Vintage fabrics may have tiny defects, pinholes from prior seams, seam marks.
There may be spots, fading and soil, especially along seam lines. All these items have been dry cleaned, some have been washed by the previous owner/vendor.
Please check my policies section.

International shipping on items is expensive. I have found myself in the position of paying huge sums myself, and not being reimbursed by the buyers. If anything is over 4 pounds, you can expect to pay any additional shipping prior to my posting your item. I have also had requests for insurance, which I followed, only to have not been paid! So, please, I am happy to handle insurance, but, it must be paid for prior to shipment.
IF YOU REQUIRE SPECIAL SHIPPING, please let me know prior to completing your transaction so that the correct shipping method is determined!
I refund overage of more than $1.00 in shipping charges. I do reserve the right to add a small fee for international orders as well as processing for larger orders, as I have to travel to a non-local post office.
