Beautiful copper hoop pendant with an Awen symbol and verdigris dome in Celtic style.
This is a beautiful hand forged pendant that has been created here at the Gaelic Forge. This copper hoop pendant presents an Awen symbol.
The copper Awen symbol is accented with a dome copper disc. As you can see from the photo, there is an awesome and beautiful verdigris patina on the copper dome which has been achieved by using an old method.
The Awen is a Bardic Welsh symbol denoting "Breath of the Poet", or the creative energy inherent in life.
The pattern on the patina has so much depth in the colors, which range from a light aqua to a deep rich teal, all in beautiful organic color patterns.
The copper dome was formed in a dapping block to achieve the desired shape. A single hole was punched at one end and a jump ring has been placed through this. Copper wire has been wrapped around each side of the jump ring.
The copper hoop has a winding, scrolling copper wire wound on it. The twisted and scrolled copper wire looks like a living vine around the upper half of the hoop. Each end of the winding copper wire has been balled in a flame to a small round tip.
Dropped from the copper hoop are three hammered pieces of flamed copper, each one is very organic in its shape. The two shorter pieces of copper are about 2" long, and the center copper piece is about 4" long.
The overall length of the entire Celtic pendant measures about 5 ¼" from the top to bottom and about 1 ½" across from side to side. The dome disc measures about 7/8" in diameter.
All the copper has been flamed, revealing beautiful coppery color which is amazing on this pendant.
Ready to be suspended from a cord of your choice when you receive it. It will lend itself beautifully to a variety of cords, such as leather, chain, etc.
All jewelry pieces from Gaelic Forge have been sealed with a clear finish so that the metal will not leave color rubbed off on clothing, etc. The clear seal will also keep the beautiful patina colors and flamed copper the intact, just the way the photograph shows.
