Your order will include a 16 song CD with a full color booklet with lyrics printed inside.
If you like renaissance faires, Loreena McKennitt, Blackmores Night, Clannad, Cantiga, Owain Phyfe and The New World Renaissance Band then you might also enjoy "Wing'd with Hopes, New Interpretations of Renaissance Songs".
"Wing'd With Hopes, New Interpretations of Renaissance Songs" has been in the best selling albums at CD Baby in the Renaissance category and is an album of Renaissance songs performed with modern instruments, an innovative approach and a lush soundtrack-like quality.
It was produced with Scott Petito, known for his work with many notable acoustic acts including James Taylor, Livingston Taylor, The Band, Pete Seeger, Dave Brubeck, Aine Minogue and many others. He also plays some instruments on the album and mixed and mastered it.
1600s composers John Dowland and Thomas Campion are featured with their Shakespeare-like lyrics and ground-breaking music. We took their compositions one step further to include many other instruments, arrangements and departures.
You can hear soundclips on our MYSPACE page here: http://www.myspace.com/thespiritesconsort.
Instruments that I play on this CD include guitars, cello, recorders, Irish whistles and keyboards. I am also the singer.
Many of the songs are the same songs that Sting recorded with Edin Karamazov for "Songs From the Labyrinth". These include "flow My Tears", "Fine Knacks for Ladies" and "Wilt Thou Unkind Thus Reave Me".
The rest of the band is comprised of:
Joe Davoli (violin, baritone violin) was schooled in violin studies at Berklee and St. Paul's University. He has played in symphonies, small classical groups, a folk duo, an Irish show band, a Dave Mathews cover band, a bluegrass band and lately with Irish rock band, Ceili Rain. His tone is impeccable and sweet!
Rick Eckberg (double bass and vocal harmonies) studied at Eastman School of Music under Robert Zimmerman. Rick has been known as a symphony bassist and jazz player throughout the northeastern United States and Europe. He has performed with Rosemary Clooney, Nick Brignola, Carol Sloane, Teddy Wilson and Pat Melita.
Jeff Belding (guitars, mandolin and banjo) was schooled in music at the Boston Conservatory of Music, the New England Conservatory of Music and The College of Saint Rose. He has played in classical ensembles, rock bands, country bands, musicals, jazz ensembles, folk bands and his recordings have been used for movie soundtracks.
