I completed this piece in December 2011 after performing a Victorian Streetwalk in our local town and a Victorian Christmas concert in full Victorian attire at a library grant-funded concert series (scroll to see inspiration/story behind the piece or read in much more detail on my blog through this link: http://lisewinne.blogspot.com/2011/12/performing-and-experiencing-2011.html).

INSPIRATION/STORY BEHIND THE PIECE:
I am continually writing a blog on the blogspot platform about my adventures as an artist and as a musician. (I have a bachelors degree in studio art and a masters degree in art education and I have been a performing musician since the early 1990s, producing 5 CDs along the way).
I always like illustrations to accompany my stories as a musician and this is one of them. I originally just sketched a cartoon, but as with so many of my drawings, couldn't resist embellishing and filling in the background with fauna and birds.
The man looks like the musician I performed with for both concerts. The woman doesn't look like me (perhaps she looks most like a daughter?).
The concert I performed in Saratoga Springs was a Victorian Streetwalk where the street was emptied of all cars (whether parked or moving) and were replaced with horses, carriages, marching bands, jugglers, carollers and many participants dressed in Victorian attire. It is a totally packed event with stores open until 10 pm.
The Victorian Christmas Concert that we performed days later was at a library about 50 miles away. We dressed in Victorian attire (Dickens era). Our concert was embellished with educational trivia and facts (when the songs were written, by whom, where and why). We also featured some holiday songs from the Renaissance era (my specialty) as many of these were still being performed during the Victorian era.

(note: the reason I refer to this as a sketch instead of a drawing is because it was done quickly and does not have the thoughtfulness and proper perspective that a finished drawing would have, despite its details and embellishments).
