I love the calm shades of greens and blues so combined squares and rectangles of those colors to create this art glass bowl. This bowl is made with both transparent and opaque glasses in many shades of blues and greens - emerald green, aquamarine, mint green, pine green, jade and spring green. This fused glass bowl is a unique square shape with waved edges. It measures a square of approximately 9 inches (23 cm) and is 2.5 inches (6.5 cm) high at its deepest point. I like to use this size bowl as a centerpiece on my kitchen table or it makes a pretty display on a coffee table.
To make this piece, I first spent much time just staring at my inventory of glass to give me inspriation. I still get memorized just looking at all the colors and imagining the possibilities. Next I cut and assemble pieces of glass to make my design which is then fired in a kiln to approximately 1500 degrees to fuse the glass into a single piece. I like to have straight edges on my fused glass pieces so I used a diamond disk grinder to make sure the edges are perfectly staight and then put the piece back into the kiln to "fire polish" the edges. My last step is a final firing where the glass is draped over a mold to give it the final shape.
All of my items are handmade in America in my Roswell, Georgia studio.
