These heart earrings are handmade. Love the warmth of copper but allergic to copper ear wires? These earrings are for you! Each brown diamond shape charm has a heart with a swirl. These ear wires look like copper but are actually Niobium (see below).
The copper heart charms are my own original design. I made them from metal clay. This is a material made from particles of real metal mixed with an organic binder. It is similar to clay. I stamped them with a heart design. After the charms are formed and sanded, they are fired in the kiln. All the organic material burns out and only the metal is left.
These copper charms have a patina on them so the detail of the hearts and swirls shows up against the brown copper background. The last picture shows the charms without a patina. If you would like to order some without a patina, please message me by clicking the link under "contact seller".
Each copper charm is approximately 15mm (a little over ½") square. The earrings hang about 1 ¼" (30mm) long. Since each charm is individually handmade, there will be slight variations in each one.
Niobium is a relative of titanium. It is very hypo-allergenic. I can't wear regular sterling silver, but I can wear Niobium and also Argentium Sterling. When electrical current is applied to Niobium it will change colors. This is called annodizing. These ear wires have been annodized to look like copper. I am confident you will not have an allergic reaction to these earrings. If you do, I will gladly either exchange them for sterling or you can return them for a refund.
