The $5.95 rate is no longer available.  This post is being left intact so that any members who need to reference this discussion can do so, however you can no longer sign up for the $5.95 rate.

ADDENDUM POSTED 9/22/2010:

The ArtFire Group Deal will be activated on 10/1/2010.  All members who have signed up for the deal BEFORE 10/1/2010 will lock in their PRO rate at $5.95.  Once the group deal is activated  on 10/1/2010 the $5.95 rate will not be available to new sign ups.  Any new members who did not sign up by 10/1/2010 for the group deal will be able to do so at a higher locked rate for the remainder of the beta exit promotion.

ARTFIRE GROUP DEAL TERMS, CONDITIONS, AND FAQ

By entering your credit card information and agreeing to the terms of the offer (accepting the offer) you also agree to the general Terms of Use for ArtFire.com

By accepting this offer you are agreeing to pay for a Pro level account on ArtFire at the $5.95 per month promotional rate.  This promotional rate offer is made contingent on  a “group discount” model where the promotional rate is guaranteed  to be activated only after a total of  20,000  users also accept the offer within the offer window.  The group deal will be activated on 10/1/2010, the $5.95 rate will not be available after that date.  In the event that the group discount minimum is not met, the promotional rate may still be activated at the sole discretion of ArtFire.com , however, activation of the promotional rate is guaranteed only after the minimum number of users accept the offer.  Once activated, the promotional rate of $5.95 becomes your permanent locked in rate as long as you maintain your subscription.

By accepting the offer you agree to pay for a minimum of 1 month of Pro level service at the discounted promo rate.  You may cancel your Pro account and the associated subscription at any time after the offer is activated.  There is no cancellation fee or other charge. Cancelation requests sent prior to the initial payment made by  a user who agreed to the terms of the offer will be considered a cancelation request to be processed at the end of the user’s first month and will not cancel the users initial payment as acceptance of the offer.  Agreeing to the offer means that if the deal is activated you will absolutely be charged $5.95 for the first month, even if you request a cancellation before the minimum user limit is met.

Existing Pro account holders may sign up for the offer, however, unless and until the offer is activated existing Pro members will still be responsible for maintaining their regular subscription payments associated with their existing Pro account.    Pro members who agree to the offer will only be charged the $5.95 rate if the minimum number of users is met or ArtFire.com decides, at its sole discretion, to activate the offer.   If the offer is not activated all locked rates, subscription rates and other Pro subscriptions will remain unchanged for each user.

If the offer is activated new members will be charged $5.95 and upgraded to Pro upon a successful transaction.  Existing Pro members will have their old subscription canceled and be charged $5.95 on their next scheduled billing date.

Pro Members who are part of the ArtFire PRO 500 annual discount are also welcome to participate in this promotional rate.  If the deal is activated, your credit card will be held on file and billed at the new $5.95 per month rate on the appropriate day in January 2011 as defined by your old billing date.

No partial refunds can be given to existing Pro members who accept the offer and are charged at their current rate prior to activation of the offer.   The offer rate will take effect upon the users next renewal date.

Members with multiple accounts who wish to accept the offer on 2 or more of their accounts must do so on each account.  An accepted offer will only apply to the account that is logged in at the time that the offer is accepted.  In order to accept the offer on multiple accounts a user must login and complete the acceptance on each account. Accepting the offer for one account WILL NOT automatically enroll other associated accounts in the offer.

This offer is only available for a limited time.  Along with a specific end date that will be determined by ArtFire administration and included in all advertisements and terms, we will also be limiting the amount of members who can opt into this deal to 50,000 members.  The promotion will run until either the end date is reached, or the number of opted in members reaches the maximum amount of 50,000 members; whichever event occurs first.

Frequently Asked Questions

For new members and basic account holders with no active subscription:

What happens if you don’t get 20,000 sign-ups, can I still get the deal?
This deal is only guaranteed if a minimum of 20,000 ArtFire accounts accept the offer.  If this minimum number is not reached the deal may or may not be activated at the sole discretion of ArtFire.com

If I accept the offer, when will my credit card be charged?
Your card will only be charged if the deal is activated.  Once the deal is activated, new members without an existing Pro subscription will be upgraded to Pro and charged as soon as possible (most likely the next business day)

In the simplest terms possible can you tell me what I’m agreeing to?
By accepting the offer you agree to pay $5.95 per month to ArtFire.com in return for Pro level account tools and services.  This discounted rate is not guaranteed and is contingent upon the total number of users who also take the offer.  In the event that promotional rate is not activated, your credit card will not be charged and your credit card information will not be stored.

What if I want to cancel my account before my credit card is charged?
Unfortunately, in order to combat fraudulent signups (people inflating the sign-up counter to try and make the offer hit the minimum number of members required) we cannot cancel an accepted offer until after the initial $5.95 payment is made.  You may cancel a Pro account at any time after the initial payment is made in order to prevent future billing.    There is no long-term contract or cancellation fee.

I accepted the offer but didn’t get upgraded to Pro, why?
Your account will only be upgraded to Pro if and when the promotional offer is activated.  We cannot extend Pro level account tools and services to non-paying members.

I don’t want to wait until the end of the promotion; I want a Pro account now.
Not an actual question but we’ll answer it anyway!  If you would like to upgrade prior to the promotional rate being activated you are free to do so, however, any payments made at the regular rate cannot be fully or partially refunded.   If you sign up for this offer as well as set up a subscription for a Pro account at the going rate AND this offer is activated the subscription you created will be canceled and you will be billed at the promotional rate on your next scheduled billing date.

Why are you discounting the price of the Pro account so much, I thought the going rate was $15.95?
We have a number of reasons for discounting our Pro account to $5.95/month but the biggest reason is that we are exiting Beta and want to make a splash! This will be a limited offer.  Future new accounts will be paying higher rates.

For existing members with an active subscription:

I currently pay a higher rate per month (or quarterly) for my Pro account, if I take this offer will I be charged that rate again?
That depends entirely on your individual situation.  If you accept this offer and your next scheduled billing date occurs between your acceptance of the offer and the activation of the offer then yes, you may be charged your regular rate prior to getting the promotional discount.  If your billing date does not fall within that time frame then no, your existing subscription would be canceled prior to paying your regular rate again and your next payment would be at the promotional rate.

I paid for $36 for 3 months and have a lot of time left, can I get a refund for the time I haven’t used and take this offer instead?
Unfortunately we cannot offer partial refunds for pre-paid account time that was paid for at a rate higher than the promotional offer.  If you accept the offer your old subscription will be canceled an you will begin paying the promotional rate for your account on your next scheduled billing date.

I’m an ArtFire Pro 500 member who paid for the entire year, what happens if I accept this offer?
If you accept this offer, your credit card information will be securely stored and a recurring monthly subscription will begin on the date corresponding to your last payment made in December of 2009 (or for members who were upgraded to Pro as part of the Pro 500 promotion, your recurring billing will begin on the first business day in January)

My billing date is coming up and I don’t want to be billed at my regular rate if this deal is going to go live, what happens if I accept this offer and downgrade my account so that I’m not billed again?
Unfortunately, as we cannot guarantee that this deal will be activated we cannot handle account downgrade requests any differently than they are handled now.  Users who request a downgrade will have their subscriptions canceled and their Pro information permanently removed from the site as part of the standard account downgrade procedure.

I don't have a credit card, can I still get in on this deal?
There will not be any other payment options for this deal besides signing up with a credit card number.  The card itself just needs to have a credit card logo on it, it doesn't actually have to be a true "credit" card.  We have already confirmed that normal credit cards, bank account debit cards, and the PayPal debit card will work.  If you don't want any kind of formal card, you can even sign up with a pre-paid visa / master card gift card that you can purchase at any retailer.  You have to follow the instructions on the card's packaging to register details for online use, but once it's set up and activated even a gift card works.  Braintree will allow us to give you full billing management in MyArtFire, so you can sign up today and update your information on file at any point once the deal is activated.

Will this affect how my customers pay for items in my ArtFire studio?
No, this promotion will in no way affect how your customers pay you for your work and it will not change how you operate within PayPal or other processors as a seller.   The only thing that would change is the rate at which and method you use to pay your ArtFire PRO subscriptions service.

What happens if I sign up for the deal before September 31st?
If you sign up for the deal BEFORE the deal is activated on 10/1/2010 you will lock in a month to month rate of $5.95 for as long as you choose to maintain your account (there are no long term contracts or cancellation fees).  To secure the $5.95 rate you must sign up for the deal before 10/1/2010.  This rate will not be available again after 10/1/2010; sign up today and secure you're spot!

What happens if I sign up on October 1st or later?
For the remainder of the beta exit promotion (From 10/1/2010 to 10/30/2010) you will have an opportunity to sign up for a PRO account on ArtFire at higher but similarly "locked" rate for as long as you choose to keep your PRO level subscription.  If you sign up after 10/1/2010 you will not have access to the $5.95 rate. The only way to receive the $5.95 rate is to sign up for the deal before 10/1/2010.

How do I secure the $5.95 rate?
You must opt into the group deal by successfully completing the sign up process.   You can start the sign up process by clicking the "get in on this deal" button on the group deal page:  http://www.artfire.com/groupdeal  .  The $5.95 rate will be available until 9/30/2010.  The deal will be activated for all signed up members on 10/1/2010.  If you have not signed up for the deal before 10/1/2010 you will have lost your ability to lock in at the $5.95 rate.

I keep getting a "Do Not Honor" error when I try to sign up for the deal.  What is wrong?

The "Declined: Do Not Honor" error is a generic error returned to the processor that is trying to verify that your card is valid.  Your bank is telling us not to honor whatever transaction or purchase you are making (in this case you are just signing up for a subscription to occur in the future but it still checks to make sure the card is valid.).

As already stated this is a generic error from your bank, we don't know exactly what's wrong.  Here are some things can have been known to cause the do not honor return:

You do not have an available credit limit / funds / or for some other reason you cannot use the current card to make payments.Your account has been locked for suspected fraud (typically to protect you from unauthorized transactions) you will need to talk to your bank about which transaction those may be.  Your card for some reason is not set up to complete purchases on the internet.
We are not able to change anything with our system to fix this error.  Please call the number located on the back of your card and tell them your card keeps getting declined with a "do not honor" error response when you try to sign up for the ArtFire deal.  The "Do Not Honor" response is coming from their systems, keep asking questions until you get to somebody who can help.

I have two studio here, one is Pro and one is Basic.

How do I handle this?,
Do I go and upgrade my Basic studio first, then fill out the application?
Just fill out the application one time for both studios?
