I'm really enjoying the Bootcamp and the followup articles. Everyone has been so helpful and this is a great shared learning experience!

This boot camp has helped me start working on my Facebook page. I had a page set already but did not do much with it. I feel I am starting to understand a little better how things work.
So this week I started posting on my page and I also added a link to my page from my signature. Hope to learn many more new helpful things.

I found the answer to the problem with the AF kiosk....  Go to ArtFire Facebook Kiosk Trouble Shooting pages.... click page 6 in the first post on page 6 Hippieknots has an active link to the artfire kiosk application on facebook [it's facebook in blue].   Click that - down at the very bottom on the left you will find clickable options... click add kiosk to page.

YAY!!  It works!  :-)

Now, I need Artfire and facebook to allow TWO KIOSK applications on ONE facebook page .... sigh.... I tied both of my studios to one page to make life more simple...  Maybe Artfire and Postling will put their heads together to make this possible since MANY of us have more than one artfire studio.    maybe a code for kiosk 1... and another for kiosk 2 ????

Hey Artfire, jump in here and help us out with this one.

Yes, with two artfire shops, I, too, would love to be able to authorize 2 kiosks for the same facebook account...

I'm actually having some trouble with the Static FBML. I have read over all the instructions and I cannot figure it out. According to the information on the link the OP gave us, there should be an "add to page" link. Well I can't find one. All I find is add to pages favorites, which I know is not the same. I have even clicked on the go to app and it brings me right back to my newsfeed. Does anyone have any idea what I'm missing?

facebook is moving toward iFrames...you can go to the app directory to see various options...

For those of you who want a simple and free iFrames app from Wildfire to create a splash landing page on your facebook fan page, there is a newer one...It is being offered for free for several months and anyone who installs it prior to the cut off date will not have to pay for it...

It is BASIC and VERY SIMPLE to install and add.

It does allow for you to customize a welcome page using a photos (I just made a very basic collage of photos using picnic)  if that is something you wanted to do...just thought I would share!

Let me start off by getting the negative out of the way: I don't like giveaways. Not all work is conducive to them.

My first question relates to something raised in the primary post; that is, to encourage clients to post on your page (for example, how they used your product). Doesn't that leave the Page open to spam (both intentional and unintentional) by everyone else?

Second Question: How can I encourage people to "Like" my page rather than trying to "friend" me? Friends are nice but friends are not necessarily peers and clients.

I am seeing the potential for being overwhelmed by the amount of work and time needed for facebook. Discussions, polls, posting, cleaning out, finding apps and so forth. Right now, my blog posts are automatically sent to both my Page and my profile. I'm thinking my next task is posting more images to my albums (or perhaps posting them more often). I am undecided about setting up a kiosk for ArtFire (as well as retaining the Etsy one).

How do people find Pages on Facebook when they are not actively seeking out an individual, anyway?

on Apr 7, 2011 at 1:16pm MST

My Page is open to folks to post their specific promotions - like latest listings, blog updates, collections, giveaways and the like … and spamming from my fans has never been an issue for me.

Social networking - to me - is about developing and nurturing relationships, and I'd never have any success with that if I didn't have some level of trust with those I'm interacting with.

It seems that most folks who are new to my Page see the pattern of posting and mirror it.

Yet, I do delete some posts - as I said in my earlier comment on this thread - I do delete "I fanned you," "latest fan" type posts, which I communicate wherever I share my FB Page, yet still, there are those occasions where either enthusiasm of indifference cause folks to do just that.

As for your 2nd question ~ promote you Page in the same way you promote other aspects of your business. And use the "invite" option on your Page to invite your friends - or selected friends - to your page.

Whatever you do, have fun with it!

What is the difference between a "Like" and a "Fan" button? How do I get a "Fan" button?
