I can see that it is a fine line. As Laura said, I don't mind people posting links on my page as after all, we crafters and artists are also buyers. However I can also see it from the point of view as wanting your page to be the most attractive and interactive for customers from the "outside world" who don't know what all this fanning, bootcamp stuff means.

Would love to get some more thoughts...

How do we favorite from our business page or it that only on our personal profile?

on Apr 8, 2011 at 9:34am MST

Yes you can favorite or like from your biz page.  It doesn't up the "like" count when you do that.

If a person doesn't want to see posts from people they are easily hidden.  Anyone is welcome to post on my wall anytime.  If I don't like what they post I can delete.  At this point in my business I wouldn't shun anyone from posting there.  I don't think I would even if I was big.  It's so easy to remove things if they really are spam.  If you want total control over your wall you can set it so only you can post to it.

Your wall is one thing.  Your newsfeed is another.  If you want to hide people you can.  I know there are people who post an annoying number of times a day.  I have hidden everyone from my business life from view on my personal profile so it isn't cluttered up.  I follow everyone from business on my business newsfeed.  I would just suggest that people don't post constantly or they might get hidden, although I don't do that.  After all, you are on Facebook.  You have to expect that people will post to your wall.

If you look at some bigger businesses like Fusion Beads they have constant interaction there and people from Fusion are participating in it too.  I bet they are perceived as "nice" and "trustworthy" and "fun" because of this and that probably translates to sales.

ETA: I keep trying to make the font smaller again and it's not working.  Sorry.  I don't mean it to look like I'm shouting.

Yes this is true.  You can like someone from your biz page but it doesn't count as a "person who likes this page".  You have to "like" someone's biz page as your personal self for it to count toward "likes".

This is what I do:  I like the biz page from my personal page (the biz page can't see anything I haven't made public).  Then under "account" I click "use Facebook as page" to switch to my biz self.  Then I go like the page again.  This way I can follow and post as my biz self.  Then when a post shows up on my personal page I hide "all from so-and-so".  If you hover around the top right corner of a post a blue X will appear and if you click it there will be options.  You can still share with your personal friends if you want but you don't see their posts in your personal newfeed.

Somewhere in "edit page" on your biz page is a place to tell Facebook that you want to show as your biz self when posting from your biz page.  This way you won't show up as your personal self when you post from your biz page.

Does that make sense?

Question about this:   if I like someone's business page as Personal Me will it show up on my personal page as "Lisa Raspino likes...."?   If this is the case, I'm not comfortable "liking" more than 2 or 3 pages a day since I really want to keep my personal page...well, personal.

I have added several pages as My Business Page favorites, but that doesn't count as a "like"?

I love the little dropdown so I can select which identity I want to use when posting on someone else's page.

Final question:  my Business Page defaults to my wall.  I see others that default to their AF Kiosk?  How is this done?   Pros or cons?

Yes, it shows in personal profile when you "like" anything.  I don't know that people pay a whole lot of attention to that but it's one reason why I don't go around liking a whole bunch of pages every day.  There's no huge emergency about it about unless you need the 25 and that's a big deal to you.

I'm pretty sure that adding pages as favorites is not the same as likes but since I don't do it that way I'm not absolutely sure.

The kiosk is not set as the landing page on mine.  There was earlier discussion about this and I think it's a personal preference thing and a business decision we all have to make for ourselves.

About your business page defaulting to your wall or Kiosk...If you click on "Edit Page" you will find the option to change your pages landing page to your Kiosk...of course I wanted mine to be set up that way too, and I changed my option for the landing page to end up at my Kiosk, but for some reason, even though I clicked "save" after choosing that, it is not defaulting to my kiosk as the landing page, so maybe there is more to changing it than I know?
Anyone out there that knows how to do this, and have it work???

If you have selected your Page to land on Artfire Kiosk as default this is the page all visitors will land on...not you.

Some interesting things I picked up on from this article How to improve engagement on your facebook page were::

-The study found that daily Facebook engagement has three peaks: early morning (7 a.m. EST), after work (5 p.m. EST) and late at night (11 p.m. EST). Therefore, posting all of your updates during the workday means you’re missing key opportunities to engage fans at non-work hours.

-Thursday and Friday have 18% more engagement than other days of the week
Retail
: Sunday is a big day for engagement on the shopping and retail front, but only 5% of entertainment posts go up on Sunday. The industry’s posts lean heavily toward Friday, which has below-average engagement.

  • Tip: Target shoppers on Sunday.

  • Fashion: Engagement peaks on Thursday but dips on the weekend. The industry pushes the most content on Tuesday, the day with the lowest engagement.

    Tip: Optimize engagement on Thursday.

  • Healthcare and Beauty: Like fashion — perhaps because consumers are shopping and preparing for the weekend — healthcare and beauty brands see the most engagement on Thursday. But a lot of content is posted on Mondays and Fridays, when engagement is lower.

    Tip: Post content on Thursday.

-The bottom line: Keep it short and sweet. Posts with 80 characters or less — the length of a short tweet — garnered 27% more engagement than posts that were more than 80 characters. But brevity is far from a common practice — only 19% of posts in the study were shorter than 80 characters.

-posts with a full-length URL had three times the engagement of their shortened bit.ly, ow.ly and tinyurl counterparts.

good to know....

Great information!! I also heard another target time is between 12pm and 1pm. That's when most working people make quick Facebook and other website checks during their lunch breaks. I am a testament to that. I did many online shopping during my lunch break.

Each page has a slightly different URL so you would have to copy the URL that AF Kiosk is under and post it here on Artfire. The only people that will directly enter your AF Kiosk will be people from Artfire using that direct link. Other people will go directly to your wall according to the link you provide elsewhere.

Hope this helps!!
