I keep refreshing the page - just to watch the numbers go up... well, when I did it this last time I saw my shop name on there - it wasn't there when I signed up last night. Will the system know that it is MetalPetalz when we get to 20K or am i going to end up with 2 shops?

That was a recent addition we made to the opt-in page.  We had a lot of questions from people who wanted to know how the system knew which account was opting-in to the deal because they never entered their studio name.  That information is handled based on login sessions so the system was well aware of what account is accepting the deal and we just wanted to make that more clear to our members.

I double checked your studio just be sure and your MetalPetalz account is in the system as having opted-in to this deal.

Tony, if we are in canada we cannot get a paypal credit card. I have to use a mastercard gift credit card which is no problem but they are not reloadable so i can get one to use for artfire but when it runs out, say 6 months down the road, will artfire notify us that our credit card is not working? Will they give us the option to add a different credit card when we need to?

This not being able to use paypal is a step backwards. It won't hurt me but I know over on Etsy they fought and begged for years to get paypal set up for monthly fees, it will be hard to talk someone into coming here that will no longer be able to use paypal. Just saying.....

To be perfectly honest with you, PayPal has actually switched to a new type of subscriptions called "Profiles",  all of the new signups on ArtFire in recent months that use PayPal for their Pro subscription are actually these "Profiles".

The odd thing is that PayPal requires a member to have a credit card on file, at least as a backup, to create a Profile.  That means everyone who's successfully gone Pro in recent months HAS a credit card even if they don't use it as their primary funding source.  The old PayPal subscriptions did not have this requirement, however, they are also very finicky and have been known to cancel for no reason at all (one of the reasons were moving away from PayPal).

As for using a gift card, yes, you will be able to change out the card number if the card stops working.  I can't guarantee that your account won't be temporarily changed to basic if there's a problem with your card but you will have a time window where you can login, update your information, and get your Pro account back while keeping your rate.  A better option is to be aware of your balance and switch out the card before there's a problem, then you won't have to deal with any interruptions to your Pro service.

I was Pro then downgraded to Basic. Can I get the 5.95 deal if this happens?

So is there a downside to opting in if you are already Pro? Why do we have to opt in why wouldn't we just be switched over to the other rate? What is the downside if we opt in and we don't hit the mark? Is it a win win for everyone?

I know I sound like I'm suspicious. Well I have never liked opt in things so I want to read between the lines and get the full scoop.

Thank you

You should opt in to get this and become a pro member when this comes into affect. It won't activate unless they get 20,000 subscribers. As soon as that happens then it will start charging us the 5.95 but not until the number of subscribers is reached. You have nothing to lose by doing it, you want to do it.....

This is my chance to open my 2nd shop that i have been wanting to do....I will open as a basic for now and sign up and it will become a pro shop when the subscrption thing takes affect.

I am so stoked!

I vow to stop and think before I post, if I don't, just slap me.

There is no downside to opting-in.  The reason we can't simply give all of our Pro members this rate is that, with this deal, we are moving to a new credit card processor.  To get the deal, your subscription has to be handled by our new processor, we cannot offer this rate using PayPal or our previous credit card processor.

If you opt-in and we don't hit the mark nothing changes.  Pros with a locked in rate ($7 or $12) keep their locked in rate, Basics stay at basic.  If the deal goes through, everyone who opted-in gets the $5.95 rate.
